Dallas (D.R.) Daugherty, age 77, of Checotah, passed away at his home on November 03, 2016. Dallas was born December 31, 1938 in Flint Springs, KY to J.C. Daugherty and Hazel (White). He grew up in Ohio and went to Minerva High School in Minerva, Ohio. He joined the USAF in 1955 completing his service in 1957 due to medical reasons. It was at this time he started his career as a truck driver during this time he was the recipient of the 3 million miles safe driver award. In 1964 he married Velda Jones.Dallas enjoyed a multitude of hobbies from horseback riding to traveling to visit relatives. He was an excellent mechanic and would help anyone who wanted advice on how to work on their cars. His favorite trips were with his horse Bart up to the National Forest of Wyoming, just outside of Laramie.Dallas is survived by his daughter Lisa Berry (Edward) of Checotah, Oklahoma and the light of his life, Granddaughter Kelsey Vickrey of Muskogee, Oklahoma. A sister Ruth Ann Lillie (Cecil) of Canton, Ohio and a brother Jerry Crowl (Joyce) of Chesterfield, Michigan, as well as many beloved cousins and in-laws. He has also left behind his trusty companion Sami. He is preceded in death by his Parents and his wife Velda (2009). At the urging of the family, remember to wear sunblock at all times when working or playing outside. A private Ceremony will be held at a later date.
