Gerald Vance Swain

Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the age of 73, Gerald Vance Swain, better known as “Jerry”, passed away at home in Collinsville, OK with his loving family at his side. Jerry was born November 2, 1947, in Columbus, OH to parents, Parker and Edith (Vance) Swain. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 before being honorably discharged in April 1974. He was an expert marksman-receiving the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal for his service in Berlin, Germany. During military service, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, OH. After leaving the military, he was employed as an accountant for Borden and Frigidaire. He worked as a forklift operator before retiring from Consolidated Freight in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Parker and Edith (Vance) Swain. He is survived by his daughter Amy Savage, son-in-law Bill Savage and three grandchildren-Will, Ryann and Jorja, all of Collinsville, OK. He leaves behind many loving memories with his family, friends, and those who attended New Life Assembly, Collinsville, OK. His greatest passions to many who knew him were spending time on his boat, fishing and hunting, made evident by his countless DVDs of those activities. Visitation will be Monday, March 8, 2021, 6 pm - 8 pm at the Savage home. A military honor service will take place later this month at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK.
