Harry Jefferson Abbey

Harry Jefferson (Jeff) Abbey, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016 at Hillcrest South Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jeff was born on April 16, 1926 in Oswego, Kansas to Harry and Pearl Abbey. He was a professional tennis coach that received the distinction of becoming the 10th member accepted to the U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) at the organization's inception. While a graduate student at Tulsa University in the 1940’s, Jeff simultaneously coached and played on the TU tennis team. He was a Veteran having served in the US Navy during WWII. In the Navy bands Jeff played both the trumpet and French Horn. He was preceded in death by his sister: Mary Anne Lorenzen, of Overland Park, KS and by a daughter: Kimberly Ann Abbey, of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Jeff is survived by his companion of many years: Patricia Dreizler, his son: Kevin M. Abbey Sr., grandchildren: Kevin M. Abbey Jr., Emily Abbey-Dake, Jeffrey P. Abbey,Tarie Lewis, Brian Lewis, Matthew Lewis, and by a son-in-law, Bruce McAllister of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Offer CondolencePrint
