John Wesley Jarvis died peacefully at his home of 55 years on October 25, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 83. John is survived by his devoted wife Phyllis of 48 years, children Wes Jarvis of Tulsa, Ron Jarvis of Skiatook, Angela Schafer of Las Vegas, brother Charles Jarvis of Tulsa, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Martha Bowden of Tulsa and son Timothy Robins of Sand Springs. John was born on September 3, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Desmond and Alice Jarvis. He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1956. He also graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics. John was a master watchmaker and jeweler. Owner of John Jarvis Jewelers for 47 years. He called West Tulsa (Redfork) his home for 81 years. His children remember him as a kind/gentle/patient/driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He also taught them to do a job to the best of their ability, no matter what it was. John was a very generous/dedicated individual who loved everyone and who was passionate about changing the world through his religious beliefs. He was an active and dedicated member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and often volunteered. Memorial service Thursday 2 pm Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 47th and Vancouver, Tulsa.
