Kelly Alexander died unexpectedly on August 21st, 2019 in Jenks, OK at the age of 62. Kelly Alexander is survived by his wife, Gail Alexander; his children, Michael Alexander and his fiancée Kaitlin Adkins of Tulsa, OK, Jonathon Alexander and his wife Alyssa Alexander of Tulsa, OK; his brother, John Alexander and his former spouse Stephanie Alexander and their children Dylan Alexander, Kim Fortner, Heather Phillips, Andrew Tatum of Midwest City, OK; and his mother, Jo An Rackett of Midwest City, OK. He is preceded in death by his father, Dick Alexander of Midwest City, OK and his mother's second husband, Frank Rackett of Midwest City, OK. Kelly Alexander was born on February 18th, 1957 in Midwest City, OK to Dick and Jo An Alexander. He graduated from University of Oklahoma in 1979 with a degree in Journalism where he was a member of the OU NROTC and a Master's in Education Administration from Oklahoma State University - Tulsa. He married the love of his life Gail Alexander, a fellow Navy Officer in 1991. After graduating college, Kelly began his Naval career being stationed aboard the USS Brewton in Honolulu, Hawaii. Over the course of his Naval career, he rotated among different ships docked at bases such as Sasebo, Japan, Camp Pendleton, California, all while traveling across the Asian continent and West Coast. Kelly finished his distinguished career as the Officer in Charge of the NROTC at Cal Maritime Naval Academy. Over the course of four years, the couple welcomed two children into their home; Jonathon and Michael Alexander. Following his military career, he moved back to his home state of Oklahoma and began a career in education. He finally settled in Jenks, OK with his family where he worked in Tulsa Public Schools for 19 years in various roles. His children remember him as a supportive and involved father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was a devoted supporter of the University of Oklahoma football program evident by his devotion of sitting through entire games regardless of heat, rain, wind, or cold. He enjoyed reading Dickens novels, researching historical topics for pleasure or his Tulsa Community College courses he taught, range shooting, motorcycle riding, and charging the battery on his Corvette while occasionally driving it. In his later years he took a strong interest in gardening, especially growing tobacco, sunflowers, and roses.   Kelly was accomplished at teaching whether it was for his college history classes or bible studies he led for his D-Group. He was a dedicated individual who loved history and who was passionate about teaching and engaging his students at TPS and TCC. He was an active and dedicated member of New Beginnings Church of Bixby, OK, National Rifle Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tulsa Vette Set and often volunteered at church and school.
