Kent Eugene Morgan

January 24, 1960 — February 16, 2021

Kent, left this earth to be with the Lord after an extremely long battle with his health, on February 10th, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 61. Kent was born to Kenneth Eugene Morgan and Sela Nillene Willson Morgan at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma on January 24, 1960. Kent started his life in Drummond, Oklahoma with sisters, Cheryl, Linda, Teresa, and Kerri. Throughout his life, he also lived in Lahoma, Oklahoma, Enid, Edmond, North Enid, Meno, and Turpin, Oklahoma, where he graduated High School. He worked at National Beef Processing facility in Liberal, Kansas. Spent a few months living in California, then back to Oklahoma. Kent joined the Navy and had the honor of serving as a Firefighter on the USS Kitty Hawk as it made its final world tour during Desert Storm before dry docking in Philadelphia for refurbishing. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, Kent returned to Enid, Oklahoma where he lived until moving to Meeker, Oklahoma in 2014. In 2017 he moved to Prague, Oklahoma where he lived while courting his bride-to-be. On February 3rd, 2018, Kent married Susan Carol McBroom of Chandler, Oklahoma where they lived together until his passing. Having never married before, he became a Father and Grandfather all at once, fulfilling the dream to have a family of his own. Oldest stepdaughter Carrie Sloan, Husband Terry, and their children Memery Sloan and great-granddaughter Hudson Sloan, Kaylen Sloan who is in the Army Reserves, Cordelia Sloan (deceased), Anya Sloan all of McGregor, Texas. Stepdaughter, Terri Gilliam of Chandler, Oklahoma, and Stepson James Furgerson and his children, Akaycia, Amari, and twins Paisley and Camilla also of Chandler, Oklahoma. Kent loved being a grandpa and teaching them about Jesus. He and Susan took the grandchildren to church every chance they could. Kent Morgan worked off and on with his Dad, Kenneth Morgan, hauling hay, tearing down, and salvaging buildings, many of them on military bases. They went to auctions to buy scrap metals that they would then process for resale to the Metals dealers. Kent would branch out on his own cutting scrap metal for resale for a time as a secondary job. He worked for Sutherlands Lumberyard, Hackney Iron & Steel manufacturing large metal pipe and fittings. His last endeavor was his thrift store called, "Country Boy Thrift." Kent's most fulfilling work though was that of spreading his Love of the Lord. Kent was never shy about telling others about Jesus. The last 5 years of his life, he would purchase Christmas Cards, sign them, and personalize them for nursing home patients, many of who didn't have visitors or family. He loved giving them a small gift like a comb or brush, candy canes, or any other little gift he could afford for each one. Every patient in each nursing home received a card from him, no one was left out. He also would make dozens of sandwiches to distribute to the homeless in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His ministry to them was to feed the soul while he provided food for their bodies. A crowning moment for him was when he took classes at his church, learning how to preach from the pulpit. He loved spreading the gospel to others. Many will miss his boisterous voice when he would tell a story from his life in the Navy or a story of something he bought or sold. "Anyhow" will forever bring a smile to those who listened to his stories and family will always remember opening presents he had wrapped, always with a smile on his face as we pulled layer after layer of tape and paper off to get to the present. Kent is survived by Susan, his wife, stepchildren and step-Grandchildren, Mother, Sela Castleberry of Meeker, Oklahoma; Sisters, Cheryl Burpo and husband Alan Burpo of Enid, Oklahoma, Linda Williams and husband Ron Williams of Titusville, Florida, Teresa Traynor, and husband Mike Traynor of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Kerri Morgan of Meeker, Oklahoma. While too numerous to list, Kent loved each and every niece and nephew, as well as all the great-nieces and great-nephews. Kent was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth E. Morgan, and Stepmother Marguerite Morgan; Grandparents Theron Paul and Lyda Mae Morgan, Stepfather Harold T. Castleberry Sr., Grandparents George Willson, Telma Willson-Baker, Step Grandad John Baker, Niece, Kassandra Dea Atherton, and step-granddaughter Cordelia Sloan. The family will hold a Memorial service, date, and time to be determined and announced later. Donations to Kent's pet Charities in his name would be greatly appreciated, they are Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude's Children's Charities. Offer CondolencePrint
