Lili Marie Livingston, 72, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on Tuesday, March 21st, at St John Medical Center surrounded by family. Lili was born in District Of Columbia, WA on March 4, 1945, and adopted by the late Linda (Donahue) and Lyle Nobel Cockerile and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. At a very young age, Lili began her dance career with the New York City Ballet. She went onto to dance with the Harkness Ballet, Joffery Ballet and New York City Ballet as a prima ballerina for almost twenty years. Lili married her late husband, Stanley Livingston in April 1968 in New York. In 1973, the couple moved to Tulsa, where she began a career as a dance critic for the Tulsa Tribune. She was also a freelance writer for Dance Magazine, Urban Tulsa and other publications. Lili and her husband also owned several advertising agencies in Tulsa. In 1997, the University of Oklahoma Press published her book, The American Indian Ballerinas. Lili had been a volunteer of many community organizations and professional organizations, including The Brady Heights Neighborhood Association, the Philbrook Museum of Art, Dance Critics Association, and was the president of the board for the Domestic Violence Intervention Services. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Raymond Livingston. She is survived by her daughter, Alton L. Wallace of Tulsa; a son, Zachary N. Livingston, and his wife Jennifer K. Livingston of Tulsa; and four grandchildren Alexa K. Livingston, Nathan A. Wallace, Tierney G. Livingston, and Quinn H. Livingston. The funeral mass is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Church, 1520 South Rockford Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
