Melvin Dewayne Gordon was a lifelong resident of Mifay, Ok. He passed from this life unexpectedly last week at his home in Milfay. Melvin was born on February 15, 1962 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Melburn and Bessie (Sanders) Gordon. He received his education at Stroud High School, graduating in 1980 and attended Vo-Tech Drumright Campus, learning the trade of a machinist. Melvin was baptized into The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by Bro. Ples Sanders. Melvin married Gaylene (Pippin) on November 27, 1982. They were married for 33 years upon Gaylene's passing. After being married, they soon settled in Milfay to raise their family as Dustin was born in 1984, later Amber & then Rusty. Melvin enjoyed many hobbies. In his spare time he enjoyed mowing, working in the garden, working on his deer plots and deer hunting. He enjoyed garage selling and antique hunting. He was an avid coon hunter when his health let him be and he loved camping and fishing with close friends and family. Something Melvin was always known for was nicknaming people. You never knew what he was going to call you, but most generally it wouldn't be your real name. He was always very generous in sharing his diverse antique collection. He loved bartering and finding unique items to display around his house. For a majority of his working life, you could find Melvin at Blue Star Acid in Depew. Melvin took a break from that to owner/operate his own Dump Truck business in the late 90's then returned to Blue Star in the early 2000's.He is preceded in death by his wife, Gaylene; his father, Melburn; his mother, Bessie, and nephew, Langston.
