Paul Todd Rhodes was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on October 20, 1964. The family moved to Tulsa in 1973. He attended Carnegie Elementary, Nimitz Junior High, and Memorial High School. While at Nimitz he won a medal in a Science Fair competition, and as a senior at Memorial he won an honorable mention as a Merit Scholar. He was a member of Boy Scout Troup 16 (New Haven Methodist Church). He attended Oklahoma State University studying computer science.
He was an avid reader of science fiction and enjoyed playing computer games with friends. In his childhood and afterward, he enjoyed homemade chocolate chip cookies with NO NUTS and a homemade banana cake (using the Betty Crocker recipe) for his birthday cake. He enjoyed going camping with the Scouts, especially when they went to Green Leaf State Park. While in the Senior High Youth Group (First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa), the group went to New York for a Mission trip.
He always had dogs as his best friends from the time of the move from Stillwater to his passing. His last four dogs were Labrador rescues. His most recent dog was Sadie. She was with him when he died. And she now has a new forever home.
Paul is survived by his parents, Thomas R. and Rita Tippin Rhodes, his brother, David E. Rhodes (Tulsa), and David’s family; three aunts: Joyce T. Alger (Tulsa), Judi R. Crowe (FL), and Susan R. Minor (CA), along with their families; one uncle, Terry L. Tippin (VA), and his family, and numerous cousins.
Paul worked in the Information Technology Department at each company where he was employed. He even built a computer for his grandmother and another for his mom.
Paul passed from this life at home in mid-October, 2022. He will be sorely missed for his intellect and his ability to speak “computer-ese”, his love for his dogs and his love for his nephews and niece and all his family and friends.
We know that the Lord has lifted him up on eagle’s wings, has borne him up on the breath of dawn, made him to shine like the sun and that Paul is held in the palm of His hand.
